Having met the conditions successfully the company opted to offer him some product s which he turned town, and sued it in a court of law. The court defended the company successfully for the advertisement was just but an entertainment and that no man with a sane mind would believingly think that Pepsi would offer the Harriet jet. These definitely required the man to enter into terms of agreement with the company, and fulfill the four elements of contract. There exist four elements of contract; namely agreement, considerations, contractual capacity and lawful object which the man in question should have met to acquire the jet. In agreement the two parties must come into a consensus pertaining the terms written about the contract. Involved members must understand thoroughly the terms and the conditions of the agreement before signing the contract. Considerations refer to the legal inducement of the contractor the essence of the contract. In most cases money will be the legal consideration. The things involved in the whole contract or Whatever the contract is meant for is what is referred to as legal considerations. The ability or capacity of the persons involved in a contract to comprehend meaningfully the said, and interpret it successfully is referred to as the contractual capacity. The object or the item that which must not be immoral, against public policy and that which is not illegal is referred to as lawful object. Whatever was written in the agreements concerning the two parties involved in the contract is absolutely interpreted as it is, without any slight amendments. Actually this is what is referred to as the objective theory of contract. For instance in the case concerning Pepsi advertisement, objective theory of contract was employed by the court to defend their decision. For instance advertisement should be true and none deceiving should have evidences to back up claims and should not be unfair. In the years ahead, it will be an increasingly critical factor in determining the success or failure of businesses. It is the fuel many of us are looking at to help us win this race to the 21st century. To do that, we should make technology matter. In this paper I am going to share my technology forecas ts. I try to focus on my new forecasts a decade into the future the first decade of the 21st century, because that is how far most businesses need to be looking ahead. There has never been a neutral or value-free, technology. All technologies are power. They evoke economic and social consequences in direct proportion to their dislocation of the existing economy and its institutions. I believe that technologies such as: biotechnology and genetic engineering, intelligent materials, the miniaturization of electronics, and smart manufacturing systems, and controls, will be the hottest technologies in the next decade. I am going to put together a list of what I think as the top ten innovative products that will result from those technologies. Number one on the list is something we call genetic. There are pharmaceutical products that will come from the massive genetic research going on around the world today. In ten years, we will have new ways to treat many of our ills from allergies to ADIS. We may see the discovery of new methods of treatment for various types of cancer, for multiple sclerosis, osteoporoses, Lou Gehrigs and Alzheimers disease, to name just a few. The biotechnology frontier, especially developments in the field of genetic, promises- and to some degree has already archived a revolution in agriculture and human health care. But proving the means to develop plant species that are more disease-and-pest-resistant, more tolerant of drought, and able to grow during extended periods of adverse conditions. These technologies will very likely provide future increasing in agricultural productivity. So far, these techniques have not add much to world food production; recent grow has come primarily from increasing acreage in production, in response to higher grain prices. However, further expansion of productive land is limited, and the increased application of fertilizer appears to be reaching a point of diminishing returns. Therefore, increased agricultural productivity from this new field could be essential to feed the growing population. The mapping of human and plant genomes, a process already well underway, will provide greatly incr eased knowledge of genetic processes and, to some extend, information about how to control them. For humans, this will provide the means to deal with diseases that have genetic origins or result from man functioning of genetic material in the body. Over the next ten to fifteen years, we are going to see business going one step further. This movement toward more technology alliances and partnerships is really just a transition. Basically, we are going to see the emergence of the virtual company and the total R D alliance. A company might maintain a vice president of technology to manage a network of R D alliances with supplies, universities, and R D organizations. Maybe it would have a staff of its own scientists and engineers housed right in one or more of those other organizations. This type of setup could be the ultimate way for a company to focus its sources on its core business and still be able to access the latest technology at the least cost. Many, if not most, of tomorrows top products will come from this merging of two or more technologies. With the fact that he is a white boy living in the middle of a black neighborhood whose amusements include muggings and bullying, his friendship to Rude is a gift to him from the heavens. In such a neighborhood and the fact that he is white, Dylan needs a lot of protection from the blacks; this can only be achieved through befriending Rude who is black. As a matter of fact, Mingus Rude is a good friend as well as a role model to Dylan. Dylan depends on Rude for protection and his entrance to power structure of Dean Street. As their friendship progresses, the two boys get attracted to each other romantically. The tension in racial relations here can be thought as the relationship that is expected to exist between a white and a black; a relationship of master-servant. Racial tension is seen where Dylan befriends another white boy Arthur Lomb so as to get through the school years normally. The difference comes in where b oth white boys take different approaches towards life. Dylan decides to go to a white and elite high school while Arthur chooses to hang out with black kids. Arthur befriends Mingus Rude and Robert Woolfolk who become his role models teaching him â€Å"niggerfication.† Dylan believes that, the contrast found between being black or white does matter even where it is expected not to. The opposing irony of Dylan being white seems to torment him most of the times. His life as a â€Å"white boy† is met by endless humiliations (Lethem 56). All the same, his â€Å"whiteness† also affords him an opportunity to leave the oppressive black neighborhood to a richer and famous one in Vermont. Racial tension is seen where even with white children surround him, Dylan does not actually fit in. when Dylan attends the college party, he says â€Å"that easy appropriation of dance-floor funk was a first taste, for me, of something I desperately wanted to understand: the suburban obliviousness of these white children to the intricate boundaries of race and music which were my inheritance and obsession. Nobody here cared it was only a danceable song† (Lethem 59). This quote illustrates the racial tensions which may exist between people of the same race. Although racial relations are the main theme of this book the characters play roles that seem to be predetermined. All blacks in the novel are sentimentalized despite their varied occupations; whether a mugger or a musician, if the person is black, he o she is sentimentalized. As a racial experiment, Dylan fails when he decides to adorn â€Å"black leather jackets and white boy rock† to be a part of the Stately Wayne Manor band. Discrimination against the black community is evident where Rude is left to be â€Å"a prisoner of the streets† (Lethem 66). On the other hand, the American Dream suggests that for people to succeed, they must work hard. In the novel Fortress of Solitude, the American Dream of equal rights for every one is found to fail. There is rampant racial discrimination in the Brooklyn neighborhood which makes it hard for the minority to live the American Dream. At the end of the play he has not change unlike Sheila he does not think that there is nothing to worry about. This makes Sheila feel unsure whether to take make the engagement ring. Sybil Birling is described at the start as about fifty, a rather cold woman and her husbands social superior. She is very aware of the differences between social classes. She is irritated when Mr Birling makes the social gaffe of praising the cook in front of Gerald. When the inspector starts to question her she tries to deny things that she doesnt want to believe: Erics drinking, Geralds affair with Eva, and the fact that a working class girl would refuse money even if it was stolen, claiming She was giving herself ridiculous airs. At the end of the play she has to come to terms that her son is a heavy drinker who got a Eva smith pregnant and stole money from his fathers business to support her and also her daughter will not marry a good social catch and that her own reputation within the town will be ruined. At the start of the play Eric Birling is described as in his early twenties, not quite at ease, half shy, half assertive. Eric seems embarrassed and awkward right from the start. It soon becomes clear to us although it takes his parents longer that he is a heavy drinker. Gerald admits, I have gathered that he does drink pretty hard. When he hears how his father sacked Eva Smith, he supports the workers cause, like Sheila. Why shouldnt they try for higher wages? at the end of the play Eric is disappointed in his parents just like Sheila and he forcefully tells them Im ashamed of you. But unlike his parents he is fully aware of his social responsibility. He doesnt want to be Included in his parents plot to cover the incident up. As far as he is concerned, the important thing is that a girl is dead. We did her in all right. J.B. Priestley is successful in exposing the shallowness and uncaring side of the human nature through his characters. He shows this through the two characters of Mr. Birling and Sheila.  For example Mr. Birling starts off being extremely stuck-up and pompous whereas towards the end of the play he becomes ashamed of what he has done and realises he has to save his reputation. After he finds out the inspector is an impostor he is very pleased that he has not jeopardised his reputation. Sheila on the other hand starts off being ungrateful and is only bothered about the ring from Gerald and being engaged. Towards the end she realises that she has played a part in the death of a young women just because she had been in a furious temper that day. This shows that people even though they are in a higher class then common people they still make mistakes and responsibilities.  Finally I think that even though the play was written in 1945 it can still appeal to modern audiences and teach them that even though there are not any certain classes in the present there are still people that think they are better than other and have higher authority which gives them the right to be correct but they must remember that every one is the same we all make mistake and problems but we sort them out in the right way.
